Is teeth whitening right for you?

If you have discolored teeth and want a whiter, brighter smile make an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Le.  Tooth discoloration may be caused by the food that you eat, beverages that you drink or simply because of aging. The good news is that teeth whitening treatments are quite successful on these types of common stains.

In-office teeth whitening vs. At-home teeth whitening treatment. Which is better?

For faster results, in-office treatment would be your best choice. Dr. Le  is able to speed up the teeth whitening process by using stronger whitening agents and a light source. While the investment is a bit more, it also produces better results for a fantastic smile.

If, fast results are not a concern then, you have the option to whiten your teeth at home. The process generally takes a few weeks to complete and has a more gradual change in the shade of your teeth. Dr. Le will take an impression of your mouth to make a custom teeth-whitening tray for the whitening solution. He will then give you instructions on how to add the solution, and the proper length of time to wear the tray for each session.

You can also get over the counter teeth whitening treatments but because the solution is diluted so, results can be prolonged. The trays can also a factor because they are NOT custom made. This may lead to the solution leaking out on to gums and being swallowed.

You can experience mild tooth sensitivity but, Dr. Le can help ease any mild discomfort there may be. Most symptoms last less than a few days. As always no matter which teeth whitening treatment you choose, a professional consultation is necessary to check your gums health before any new treatment that may cause them to be irritated.

Call Dr. Le today for an appointment (916) 691-1141. He and his staff are ready to help you.
